Jim has been actively involved within the land business since 1978. He got started in the Rocky Mountain Basin, where he spent his first 12 years and he has spent the last 22 years working the Appalachian Basin. He was Vice President of the Chippewa Minerals Associates, Inc. located in Denver, CO prior to establishing JBLS in 1994 and Surfside Abstracting, Inc. in 2010.
He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from Central Michigan University in Mount Pleasant. Michigan, a Master's of Science Degree from Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, Michigan and an additional twenty (20) hours toward a second Master's Degree in Administration.
Jim is a current National Director with the American Association of Professional Landmen (AAPL), a former Chairman of the Legislative/Regulatory Committee, and past President and Treasurer of the Northern Appalachia Landman's Association (NALA). He is an active member of NALA, MAPL, and the Michael Late Benedum Chapter (MLBC).
